Question New wheels & tires

I looking to get some slightly larger tires on my "97 ORP w/ the standard 265/70/17 set up getting kind of beat looking after 6 Northern Ohio winters and 76K miles. I still love this truck and haven't did much to dress it up over the years other than a few cosmetic things and an exhaust and a K&N.
I want it to still fit in the garage and have 3" overhead clearance to play with. I'm thinking of going with 16x8 Centerline Thruster wheels and 285/75/16 BFG All -Terrains.
I have the 4.6 auto trans. w/ 3.55 gears. It has the molded Ford mudflaps.
Will it still fit into the garage and function OK? Is there anything I should be aware of?
Thanks to all!

I just did exactly what you're proposing and I'm completely happy. It fills up the wheel well much nicer and according to the tire guy, only changed the height 1".
