how big can i go

i have a 2000 f150 4x4. im looking into replacing the wheels and tires. it currently has stock 17" rims with 265/70 tires on it. im wondering if i should stick with 17's and just get a larger tire, or perhaps get 15's or 16's with new tires(larger of course). only reason why im considering the smaller wheels, is because of price. the truck currently sits at stock height. if anybody has suggestions or pics to send, please share

Read through all the posts on this particular forum. This question has been answered so many times. But... stick with the 17"s and 305/65/17's and you cant go wrong.

I agree. I'd go with a 285/70-17 (33x12.50), 295/70-17 (34x12.00) or a 305/65-17 (33x12.50) tire. Also, you cannot mount a wheel smaller than 16 inches on your truck because they will not fit over the brakes.
