Angry Adjusting Rear Drums

What does everyone do to make sure their rear drums are adjusted right? Mine on my 99 just don't seem to adjust and I have to go back in there and adjust them every couple of mo's when I feel them get weak. What do you recommend?

Do they adjust correctly when you hit the brakes in reverse? This is how they are normally adjusted. You may need to lube the adjusting mechanism.

Another common problem for Ford rear brakes is for the brake adjuster cables to stretch and not 'catching' the adjuster. If you can rotate the adjuster in both directions, you probably have a stretched cable. Need to pull the drums and replace the cable. It doesn't take too long to do. Would also be a good time to lube the adjuster.
