Here we go guys got a brain shaker. 2004 f-150 new phasers actuators tensioners, new cam passenger side new lash adjusters. After doing all this work truck still throws P0012 code however really happy that it has no knocking sound till slowing down and it starts missing and just about dies and some times does. Had an alternator issue going on too was putting out 16v so replaced over the weekend still same problem ideas??? Similar problems???

 

the code defenition is;

Camshaft timing improperly set
Continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber
VCT solenoid valve stuck open
Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT unit)

i got that from the 04 pced. are you 100% you got the cam timing set right.

 

Hey, I have the same problem. Just changed my tensioners, guides, and bank 1 VCT solenoid. now runs like crap. If i unplug the bank 1 cam position sensor, it runs fine. Plug it bak in and it sputters and dies. I am hoping it could be something other than I got the timing wrong on bank1. any ideas?

 

Still fighting this problem checked wiring reflashed computer have tore down the engine twice now to check and reset timing. Timing has been 100% on every time still throwing p0012 and p0340. Way fusterating!!
