Hey guys, Just wondering if any one else has had this problem. this past winter while cold out side and going up some big hills i noticed a nocking in the engine. did it with 87 and 89 octane but now that its a little warmer it seems to be gone, could this be bad gas, bad lifters,bad risers, or bad oil?
I have about 120,000 on the engine and it runs fine otherwise any help would be great

 

what type of oil do you use? and what grade oil? and how often do you change it? does it matter whether the engine is cold or fully warmed up? your truck has lash adjusters instead of lifters.

Spark knock. If it does it again try the highest octane gas you can buy.

 

I use 87 octane ,5w30, ever 3months or a s close as possible and it when the truck is warm but weather is cold, just started this winter though and like i said now that its getting warmer it doent seem to be happening any more. I know they add mtbe to the fuel here in the winter could that affect it?

 

MTBE is nasty stuff. Try to find gas without it, even ethanol is better than that crap.
