thanx again. Brought it back to the dealer tonight. We'll see what happens. Spark plugs are an issue, according to my tech. He claims to get them checked before 50K. We'll find out. Poor fuel quality may also seem to be an issue. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. These things should at least be able to live up to the sticker minimum.

If you are anywhere near Chicago, you are using E10 for fuel. Right there, you will lose 2 mpg from the use of real gas. When I lived up there, I got my best mileage with BP. The offbrands such as Thornton are awful.

i think losing 2 mpg from 10% ethanol blend is an exaggeration--that's around 13% economy loss if one is averaging 15 mpg

Its true, A buddy of mine has a van that can run on pure ethanol and he said that Ehtanol is about 75% as efficient as gas. I have a 99 F150 4x4 supercrew and i get about 10-12 in the city and 16 on the highway. I get about 8 pulling a trailer with a car on it.

Had it checked out by the dealer this past week. No codes, all is normal and the plugs look good. Filled up the tank and clocked in at 14.5 mpg. 2/3 of the miles were hwy and the other 1/3 around town. This fill up I used BP (Amoco). Today I'm also going to disconnect the neg. cable and see what happens this week. I do live north of Chicago where the majority of the stations are Citgo or other cheap brands. Construction on our hwys also causes a lot of slow moving or stop and go traffic where you could normally run at a steady speed.
