1993 F-150 coolant loss...

Howdie,

I have a coolant loss issue with my truck. I lose alot of coolant out of the reservoir and I checked these forums and I don't think that I have an heater core issue as I don't smell antifreeze in the cab nor do I have wet floor boards on the pasenger side of the truck. The heat seems to work fine and the temp gauge is stable. I can't seem to find any coolant leaks in the engine compartment or on the groung under the vehicle. I did find this tube (white) near the firewall on the passenger side of the truck broken, picture below: Any ideas?

Troy

Your link doesn't work. Look at this:

Look VERY CAREFULLY at the bottom of the water pump. There's a weep hole in the casting that will trickle coolant when the pump seal goes out, and it can blow away before it builds up enough to notice on the ground. If it's not that, keep looking on the bottom of the truck for green OR white deposits, and follow them forward & up to the source.

I just replaced the water pump on a 92 f150 5.0l V8. It was leaking from the weep hole. The engine had the intake gaskets replaced by my grandfather before I got it... not sure if this is a problem area or not. Also, I have heard the timing chain cover is prone to leaks... Good luck.

Freeze plugs? Live in a cold climate? Sometimes they get pushed out even the tiniest bit and could leak some. Just a thought
