I have a 2010 screw 4x4 with the 4.6. I have done the gotts mod with a k&n replacement filter and have seen a .5-1 mpg difference. I am wondering what will be my best route to better fuel economy if there is one. If anyone has any suggestions, please write them down here. Thanks for your help

 

I find it funny on every forum, regardless of whether it's a truck, SUV, sedan, coupe, hybrid etc. there's always people complaining about gas mileage.

You cannot and will not get good gas mileage out of a 6,000 pound truck. Serious, drive less or get a 4cy commuter car if you want better gas. Mods will not net you significant MPGs. I take that back. Do this, get the smallest street tires, get rid of the spare tire or strip the interior to reduce more weight, don't let your RPMs exceed 2000, then I think you'll get better mileage out of your truck.

 

Our 2010 4.6 3v gets a solid 18+mpg in normal city miles all day everyday, and on the hwy I've seen 21mpg......I'd never complain with those results!

 

Went on a roadtrip with the family in my '97. Not a 3v motor I know but with my wife and I, 2 kids, luggage for a week, and 3 days worth of camping gear in the bed I got 17mpg from PHX to Colorado about 420 miles worth (mainly uphill). Coming back with the same gear and people I got 19.9 (mainly downhill). This was with the a/c on...Mods are in my sig. Given the amount of money I spent on mods for such a small increase, 1-2mpg maybe, I will probably never break even $$ wise for the rest of the life of the truck. IMHO you mod your truck for aesthetic reasons NOT mpg. I agree with Coobies and LUV and have never complained about mpg.

 

My Edge programmer is on the way so it remains to be seen if it helps with gas. Most people swear by the Edge or SCT tuner for power and MPG bump so I figure I'll give it a shot. I don't expect a 10MPG boost but I think 2-4mpg would be nice with added power.
