Replacing Waterpump on 2000 V6- special needs or considerations?

The last waterpump I replaced was on an '89 F-150 4x4 and I had
to remove the radiator because several bolts broke off and I needed
extra room to drill out bolts and use the reverse easy outs etc.

I was looking at the article at this forum about replacing a V8 water
pump and I dont think he removed the radiator so maybe I dont need
to either.

Am I correct to think I can remove shroud and fan together without
removing radiator ? I see that I probably need to go to autozone
to get two special wrenches to remove the FAN. Is that correct ?

Is there any thing else I will need that I should get before I
jackup and disable my transportation ? I have all the basic wrenches
and sockets etc.

BTW, the coolant is dripping from the bottom of the main crank
pulley so I figure it is comming from the water pump above.
I am a bit surprised because only 58K miles on 13 year old vehicle
but I am ready to go for it. Am I missing anything ?

I took the bolts holding the water pump pulley and the bolts holding
the fan on the fan clutch and I have removed the bolts holding
the shroud to the radiator but I cant pull anything out unless I
take the fan clutch off the water pump shaft extension.
How do I remove the fan clutch? If I could get it off I could lift
the shroud and the fan out of the engine compartment. This
I think would allow me to remove the bolts holding the water pump on.
Any suggestions ?

Yes, you can remove the shroud without the radiator. Typically, you'd leave the clutch and fan together and the water pump pulley on the water pump. You can buy/rent a fan clutch removal tool from an auto parts store, or rest a prybar on the shaft and leverage it on one of the pulley bolts to lock the water pump... then, you can wrench the fan nut off. Finally, you can lift the fan/clutch and shroud out of the engine bay together.
