3.55 to 3.73s
#31
I suspect I'd kill myself from frustration if i was living with a 3.08, after what I'm experiencing with the 3.55. elsewhere i read about a guy with a 2.73... on the other hand he probably fills up once a year or so...
anyway, before i get into the axle gears I'm having the engine and trans looked at - there are some other issues that may be involved, so I'm having a diagnostic done. I'll keep y'all posted.
anyone know about the torque curve for this thing?
thanks for your time

that 2.73 would work against mileage...

Right now i am running 35s with my stock 3.55 gears and have no intentions of changing them out. now the opportunity has came up where someone is upgrading there gears and is going to let me have his 3.73s. Now i know what everyone is going to say and that is to go with 4.10s. For everyone's information i am not going to re-gear to 4.10s and am only re-gearing because i have the chance to get some 3.73s for next to nothing. Now my question to everyone on the forum is will 3.73s be a nice difference from my 3.55s?
you need 4.56 gears...

i donno.depends on the truck configuration and 2.73 isnt much different from a 3.08....i would expect great mileage for 65mph highway driving but anything faster would probably not be that great. my 3.08 still had some power in 4th gear and a little in 5th.
here is my 08 with 3.55s and only mod was my K&N intake and it weighs 4364Lbs according to PA registration. it is 4.2L and manual tranny.
