Possible Transmission Trbl 04Screw4.6??
I have a 2004 XLT Screw w/4.6 57,000miles
3.55's and 265/70/17 (One Size up from Stock) FS Destinations
SC1714 with Shift Pressure set at
6psi (1-2) +02mph
4psi (2-3) +02mph
Stock (3-4) +stock
Oil Changed every 5,000
TrannyChanged (pan drop/filter) every 25,000
Tonight while cruising out to Corinth, Ms and Selmer, TN I set the cruise on about 70mph. Everytime I would come to an incline the truck would shiftout of OD and the RPM would raise to about 2300.... at the cruising speed of 68 the rpm was around 18500-19000. It seemed like the truck was just having trouble pulling any grade.. ..Never noticed this as bad in the past.
While playing around with the truck on the ride back, I upped the Speed to about 73-75 with cruise on and the truck would truck right on up the incline's with no trouble. Even some of the steeper grades where I was expecting it to down shift she just trucked right on up them.:o At 74-76 the RPM's were riding at about 2100-2200rpm.
I figure with the increase in MPH and the Motor turning at a slightly higher RPM range that it was putting out a little more TRQ and didnt need to downshift to make the grade.... but I wanted to run this past a few of you to see if this was normal, or if I should have it looked at before the X-tended Warranty runs out down the road.
Thanks in Advance!
Tom

Your transmission is working just fine. It is following the instructions from the PCM and is unlocking the TC under light to moderate load conditions.
Check the LOAD PID and your TPS output. The MAF may need cleaning. You might have just found a "weak" spot in the power/output curve that is the result of your tire/gear/engine combination and your programmer's settings. Your tuner can likely offer advice if you find the condition uncomfortable.
