lifting a 2003 Screw 4x4 XLT

I was thinking of getting a Rancho 4" lift kit, skid plates, and 33 or 35 inch tires. I was wondering what you guys thought. I personally like the stock get up and go of my 5.4 triton v8 so i don't want to go bigger than 35s. I live in a Northern Midwest state so mud and snow are the big things i have to deal with. I want skid plates for sure and want a lift more for the functionality than the looks (but hey its an added bonus). I use this vehicle as my daily driver, ocassional trailer pulling, along with farming and hunting. I was also wondering what you guys would think would work best for shocks for that matter.

I'd go with the 6 inch Fabtech and 35's personally.

Also, if you have the extra cash and want the power back, re-gear to 4.56.

another option rather than regearing is a programmer. it makes a HUGE difference, their b/w 400-500 depending on which one you get, and that includes 3 custom tunes. custom tunes are the next best thing to a dyno tune. VMP, Troyer, and PHP are the top 3 here. i would get a tuner first, if you decide you still dont have enough power then re-gear but its not a necessity and most people w/ 35's dont. just get a fabtech lift, its gonna be about the same price as the rancho after you get shocks for it, and you get 2" more lift for about the same price. 33's just look to small with 4" of lift i think.

I agree, I have a 5" RCD with 33"s (they were on the truck when I got it) and they are to small. I am in the process of upgrading to 18" w/35's.
