I have a 2000 F150 5.4L 4x4. I used it as a sales vehicle for five years so it has 135,000 highway miles on it; it's in very good shape. Here's the deal; I'm a hunter / fisherman who's tired of getting stuck and I want to lift my truck (I also just want a toy) but I'm no mechanic. I don't know if I can trust myself to do it right. I considered selling it and using the money to buy a truck that's already lifted but I'm worried the 'new' truck might have been abused and I'm worried the guy who lifted it might have been as inept as I am. What I really want is for someone who knows what he's doing to lift it for me. Of course I don't want to pay a fortune to have a pro shop do it. Two questions: 1.) Am I underconfident? Can an average guy with minimum mechanic experience install a lift kit or am I asking for trouble? 2.) Any idea how I could locate an individual who I could pay to lift it for me? I'm in the Brighton, MI area.
