Unhappy 83 F150 Frame Rotted... time to give up?

My first F150 was an 83 4X4 manual I6 bought new. I am on my third F150 now, all 4X4 manuals. I sold my 83 after 136,000 miles to my local mechanic. He knew how well it was maintained. He sold it to a landscaper. I saw the truck the other day at the garage and the landscaper was getting rid of it (still using it). I bought it back (just had to)and had it towed to some property I have where I can use it off highway and unregistered. New battery, new PS lines, engine runs well. After towing, noticed the bed sitting funny. Checked below to find that the frame was just flaking away everywhere and I could put my fingers through it. No solid stuff to bolt or weld to. It seems a shame but I'm convincing myself to call the junkyard.
When I bought it new, got Tuff-Kote Dinol but the frame is not protected. Its amaxing how that much steel just goes away. Doors, fenders, bumpers, etc aren't bad. The towing probably didn't help but it was just plain rotted.
Great truck, great engine with probably more life in it.

Well, obviously, you are attached to the truck, or, you wouldn't have bought it back. LOL

If you are going to go as far as getting another frame for it, IMO, you might as well do a restoration, and, put classic tags on it.

Basically, it just depends on you, and, the amount of money you are willing to spend on it.

Did you make a profit from the truck, even with buying it back?

25 years of Boston roads and New England weather, you can't beat that! I hope I get half that out of my '07...

made a profit?

Thanks for messages.
Bought it new in '83 for $8800.
Sold in '95 for $3500.
Bought back 3 weeks ago for $200.
Of course I'm not including $200 for new battery and PS lines. Also $250 to tow it 60 miles.....changed oil....gassed up...etc.
Heart is telling me hang on to it and make it a project....head says call the junk man and get 200 back....Is there a market for parts? engines, lights, doors, etc
Thanks again for replys
