2.5 leveling kit

I just purchased a 2.5 leveling kit off of ebay. I would like to know do I haveto use block under the rear springs to make it truely level is my 1st question. The 2nd questions is with the kit what is the largest tire that I can put on my truck 2006 4x4 ext cab. I am looking at 315/70/17 on my OEM wheels. what would be the best tire for light off roading at times but mostly on road. This a work truck for the most part an at times I need to hit the mud to get on my job sites to load and unload tools.
Thanks for the help this is the best web site I have seen in many years.

Jay

You should not have to use any blocks. I am running a 2.5" kit on mine and it sits perfectly level. As for tires, if you stick with stock wheels, you can probably go with 35's If you go with aftermarket wheels, stick to 33's!

For tires, I would suggest the Pro Comp Extreme All Terrain. I got a couple buddies running em on their daily driver. Very smooth riding tire, plus they look MUCH more aggressive in person vs. online in pics. Those tires are pretty mean looking A/T. If you want something with more bite, maybe look into the new BFG km2. Suppose to be a very nice riding tire, great off-road traction, and BFG reports you will get close to the 40k mark with our trucks and proper rotation and inflation. (plus they are one of the best LOOKING tires on the market IMO). If you search around on this site, there are a couple people running them on 2.5 leveling kit with 0 rubbing issues (must re-use stock wheels)

Even with a 2 1/2" leveling kit my '04 sit's a little taller in the rear. I have some 315x70x17 BFG AT's and they ride and handle great on and off road. Load range "D" and I run them at 42 to 44psi. These are H2 Hummer tires.

I can vouch for the Pro Comp Xtreme AT's, I'm running a set of 35x12.50's on my truck. Very aggressive looking tire, yet very quiet on the road. I've had mine on for about 11k miles now and they still look brand new. I can see me only putting about 8k miles a year on my truck for the next 3 years while I'm in Hawaii so my goal is to make these last for that entire time and get a new set when I send my truck back to the mainland.
