Replaced 12's for 10's - Now my amp is shutting off?

Hey everyone,

so here's the deal. For the last 5 years Ive had two Pioneer 12's in a ported box in my f150. Never a problem. No lights being dimmed when music is turned up, nothing. Box was in the way, and with a family now I need the back seat so that setup had to go. Got my local shop to build me a box for two Kicker comp 10's and hooked them up. sounds great until they get turned up a little then my amp starts cutting off as if its being overpowered and now my lights are flickering to the beat of the music. I'm bound to take it back to the stereo shop but its hard to find the time. Is this just a simple fix i can do or is something effed? the amp is a pioneer GMD8400M class D amp 1200 watts Max.

previous subs: Pioneer TS-W307D2 12" - 1200 watt max

new subs: Kicker comp 10" 300 watt max

Sounds like they pushed the ohms to low which increased amp out put and power draw.
which kickers did you get dual 2 or 4 ohm? The way its wired will determine the ohm load thus changing amp power consumption and increase heat on the amp. The amp you have is 2 or 4 ohm so if the load is at 1 ohm or lower would explain your problem.

I agree, sounds like it's wired to the wrong ohm load.
