1994 F150 front speaker size?

I'm looking to replace the hideous sounding front stock speakers and need help on speaker size. Are they 6" or 6.5", does it matter?

Any suggestions on brand? I was thinking of the pioneer or kenwood 3 ways. I'll also be replacing the rear 6x8's.

Will new ones just plug in to the two wire stock plug or is a speaker wire adapter needed?

Thanks for the help.

I believe the fronts are 6.5". You can go to crutchfield.com, enter your truck and it will show the speakers that will fit - without modifications. The new speakers will probably require an adapter to plug in to your existing speaker wires, or you can cut the factory plug off and install some spade connectors. A stereo shop or one of the local elctronics stores will probably have the speaker adapters if you don't want to cut the factory wires.

Thanks for the tip. I replaced both front and rear speakers with the pioneer 4 ways, TS-A1680S and TS-A6880R, no cutting or drilling was required at all. The fronts were 6.5 and rear 6x8, a perfect fit. I did add the connectors you suggested from Autozone, 2.99 x 4, made it very easy.

Speakers cost $111 in total and sound great.

I already have a kenwood receiver and was curious if you heard the kenwoods and what you thought of them?

You can get a door panel removal tool from crutchfield to take your door panels off. it slides in on both sides of the clip, and then you just pry up. easy. or if youre careful, this can be done with a flat screwdriver. I feel your pain with the 87-91 speakers- replaced mine with alpine type- s 's which sound great.

RE: 1994 F150 front speaker size?

I replaced the rear speakers in my f250(same thing) a couple of days ago. Rear are 6x8.5 if it is a supercab, fronts are 6.5's. If you want to save money just use spade connectors. They'll work with basically any kind of speaker
