Double your transmission 'great aritcle'
Hey all,
Bought the Hot Rod rag with the "L"vscrvt issue in it. Got to reading some of the other articles in it. Very interesting one on pg 117. I guess its called The Gear Vendors, its a unit that goes on after your trans, & mutiplies your usable gears.
Anyways what it does is take our (if you have 4.10's etc & turns them into streetable gears. Very interesting article & is very long & indepth over the specifics of what & how it exactly works. Figured some of you might like to read about it.

The Gear Vendors under/overdrive unit is unique in that it bolts to an existing manual or automatic transmission with a sturdy aluminum adapter that replaces the stock extension housing. Thanks to the gear-splitting capability of its reaction planetery system, it doubles the number of pre-existing forward gear ranges with a flick of a switch, while greatly improving vehiclr response at any thottle position from idle to WOT. When better fuel economy is desired, the 0.78:1 ratio slows the engine speed by 22%, thus reducing those wild (what ever gears you have for the strip) to a freeway-friendly 3.55:1 ratio.

I was very interested in this article as well.. seems that 2200 is a little stiff as a price, but it's good to 1200 Horse power, and is said to only use 1 HP per 400 horse that goes throught the transmission.
If you go to there web page they have this for our trucks.. very interesting..
You can read more about it at www.gearvendors.com

thx SVT2GO, never thought about puttin the web addrs in. Ya $2k is kinda steep, but some people here could really use something like that if they have 4.10's. It really got my attention becuz of the way it can help you @ the track (aka better times) with the way it helps shift through the gears quicker.
If needed I can scan this article.. and post it.. let me know..

Hey SVT2GO. Take out thoses two periods after .com on the website address you posted and then it will work.
Cigar

I saw the first one of these by Borg Warner in 1970. There were a great idea to make a strip rearend streetable. With the death of muscle cars at that time they disappeared. I'm glad to see them back. You can have a 4:10 and 3:55. Truely the BEST of both worlds.
