True Dual Magna Flow with Pictures

I had the local shop in my area install the True Dual system with 2.5" Aluminized Steel, X-Pipe, two Magna Flow mufflers and 3.5" x 22" Stainless Steel Magna Flow tips. The truck sounds great when accelerating and fairly quiet at highway speeds.

Let me know what you think of the job they did for $450.

Looks good... Appears your local shop knew what they were doing.

I had a SI/DO magna flow with 4” SS rolled magna tips put on last week. I wasn’t looking for “rattle your teeth” sound and was very happy with the setup. Less then $200 bucks in my setup.

It has a throaty performance sound when starting the truck and taking off or accelerating, but I do not hear a drone in the cab when driving at normal speeds. There is no popping and rumbling when you back off the gas, like my weekend car with its Random Tech high flow cats and Corsa SS exhaust. I do not mind the noise in a muscle car, but I do not think a daily driver pickup truck should sound like I am going to the races.

I think it sounds like a truck should sound...

PS. The shop I took it too was the cheapest one in my area for a true dual system with two SS Magna Flow mufflers and Tips. The others ones I called were at least $575 and several were over $700.

There seems to be a slight power increase and my MPGs are showing better on the computer. After my first complete tank of "free" gas from the dealer, my average MPG was 13.7 with normal driving. I reset the average MPG counter as I was driving out of the dealer. Since I was not sure how much gas they put in and I did not note the mileage, I was not able to get an accurate reading at the pump.

I reset the average MPG again after filling up the tank for the first time last night. Right now, it is sitting at 16.0 for the first 80 miles with the new exhaust and mostly freeway driving. I will keep track to see if it goes below the 13.7 when I am at the end of the first real tank of gas. I will do the math after I fill up to see how close the computer reads.

As for the sound, I had a 5.9 Liter Dodge with SIDO Magna Flow with pipes straight out the back and a 5.4 Liter Ford F150 with a bigger MF muffler (it was a mistake, but I never went back to have it changed) and dual pipes out the side behind the pass tire. (like the Harley)

This new truck sounds louder than my old Ford with the bigger muffler and a little quieter than the SIDO Dodge which had a single small muffler. I think the true dual setup has more of a performance sound than the SIDO Dodge at WOT and it is a noticable louder than the Ford since I made sure of the small mufflers this time. In fact ,the first comment my wife made was the new truck sounded more like the Dodge used to sound from inside the cab and she is not a car person by any stretch of the imagination. I am actually surprised she even noticed.

Before I run out to a hill, I am probably going to add the Troyer Performance Tune and some type of air intake to see if I can get the mileage any better. I am also waiting on a Dark Copper Snuglid F2 (and Bedrug) to see how much it will help to reduce the drag from the wind. I imagine the extra weight from the lid will cancel out any wind drag savings, but I really like the finished off look of a very low body-colored lid on this model of truck.

KR - Texas,
AWESOME looking exhaust , thanks for posting the pictures. I'm also located in South Texas (San Antonio) and would be interesting in going to the same exhaust shop if you don't mind sharing their name and location. Feel free to email me directly at: mathes1@swbell.net. I would have emailed you directly but I haven't gotten to my 100th post yet...
Thanks,
Doug
