For those scratching thier head as to where to mount their Water Temperature sending unit for the electric Autometer gauge, here is where I decided (with some good advice from Johnny L and Sal) Thanks guys!!

I realize the sending unit will only get an accurate read when the thermostat is open but I'm not real concerned with the temp when it's cold and tapping the intake was out of the question.

how did you get the sending unit in so it would be secure?did you tap threads into the housing and screw it in or solder it or what ?

I tapped the housing but am troubleshooting as it is not working properly...

 

i had the pipe fittings for my mechanical guage welded into a piece of exhaust pipe and im going to to splice it into a spare top radiator hose.i have done this alot on other cars and have never had any problems.it just looks bad but it does work.
