I have been following the intercooler failures for a few months now, and I believe there is definitely a design flaw with the 1999 and 2000 intercoolers. Why else would Ford spend the extra money to go with a new lower intake that would house a new intercooler. There is a lot of money involved to test, and setup to change to a new lower unit and intercooler If they had not had the failures on the 1999 and 2000's they would not have spent the money to introduce a new intercooler for 2001.
This bring me to my concern, what do the 1999 and 2000 owners do? Wait till yours fails and hope Ford will fix it correctly. I do not think that is fair. If there is known problem, I think they should help us out to get us an intercooler that will last. I would even go into my own pocket to help with retrofit to get a good intercooler. How does everyone else feel about this subject.

I agree 100% however it does not seem like that Ford would order a blanket replacement of all IC's due to the cost involved. That would take some type of class-action suit similar to what the Cobra owners did.

Collins8, you bring up a good point.I think that this new design is because of the intercooler problems. I think the new design should be available to the 99's and 00's. I would also be willing to Empty my Pockets for the upgrade. Maybe FORD will help us out. Who knows......
