2004 F150 with 2008 HU and Sirius Tuner

Hi,

I am trying to install a sirius tuner in my 2004 f150. So I bought a Sirius tuner off ebay and bought a 2008 HU CD-6 with MP3 off craigslist part number 8L1T 18C815GB. I also bought a wiring harness from ford 6L3Z 14588-AA to connect the HU with the sirius tuner. When I plug in the radio and press aux all I get is a Line In. No audio or menu. That is it. I used the cig lighter for power green/violet positive and the other wire I used to ground on the same cig plug. Does anyone have any ideas what I doing wrong. Do I have to program the radio? Will this model radio work with a sirius tuner?

Thanks

You need to take it to the dealership to get it reprogrammed. Until you do this some of the options will not work.

Nope, Just take your truck to the dealer with the new HU installed. Thats what I did and they fixed me up. Not sure what exactly they do.

Did you do the same with your 2005 f150? What did the dealership charge you? BTW did the background lights work in the radio or do I have wire something different in the wiring harness?

Thanks

Scott

Yes I upgraded my stock HU for the MP3/CD6 Audiophile unit from higher end models. When I first installed it everything worked except my sub(because I used the sub out on the radio) and my CD6 function(it would only take 1 cd at a time). Took it to the dealer and they charged me $50.00 and about 10 min. and I was on my way everything working. Do not know about the backlighting I took it to the dealer the same day I installed it so never got around to using it at night pre-dealership.
