Brush bar for 90 F-150

Hello, I've been seeing more and more deer on the side of the road recently, and have been toying with the idea of a brush bar to keep them out of my grill. (Besides, they look cool as h e double hockey sticks.) My question is, how much weight would be a maximum for my truck? I'd imagine that there would be limits for the suspension before I started messing things up, right? The truck is a stock 90, 150, 4.9 2 wd. I suppose with some of the friends I have, I could probably get one fabricated, but again, I'm curious about weight versus effectiveness. Looking forward to replies, Thanks, Peace, Dave.

Most anything that you buy from JC Whitney and what not as a "brush gaurd" will simply fold and smash the s*it out of the front end. Only thing you can buy or build are solid steel ranch hand style, and load about 1000lbs on the front end squatin' er down needing new springs.

I've hit a few deer and then let the insurance deal with it while enjoying fresh out of season meat for free.

If you want a guard to help with underbrush and the like in the fields, buy what you feel looks good. If you need to tie off to something, buy something made from thick walled material, and get stiffer springs. If you want to guard against deer and the like, buy a tank. There is not much that can save you from a run in with bambi other than good insurance and the tools and skill to field dress it.

Lol, thanks guys. That's kinda what I was expecting. I have to admit I was partially inspired by a "Deer, in your grill or on it" bumper sticker I had seen. Guess I'll go sharpen the skinner and google roadside dressing. Thanks again, Peace, Dave.
