No.
On a 96 you have OBD-II which is designed to look for "tampering"

Which of the "smog crap" do you have a problem with? Most of it costs little or no either HP or mileage.

It is possible to remove the cats. You'll just get a CEL light.

But why do it?
Stock cats cost almost no HP and only slightly on mileage. Aftermarket high-flows are even better.

Of course,if you've given up breathing air, it may be a moot point to you but the rest of us appreciate the reduction in crap that you'd otherwise be pumping out.

long story short im tired of my motor running rich as s**t. my LTFT (long term fuel trim) is maxed out at 25%. o2 sensors are new. no header leaks.

and i have a feeling that its doing this to save my motor. all of my wave forms are within factory specs.

btw i have no cats now. and im tired of my air pump hose running to nothing.

another question..will long tubes off a 79-93 foxbody mustang fit on my truck?

you can take all the emmisions crap off all you want. if you end up with a cel then just make sure that you have it checked out every so often so you know whether or not there is a new problem.
