starter solenoid?

My truck is taking spells of not starting. It is becoming more frequent.

When I turn the key it just clicks once( when it doesn't just start). I put a NAPA lifetime warranty starter on it in the spring. I believe the culprit is the starter solenoid. If I bypass it the truck starts right up.

Any suggestions?

That is exactly what I did. Seemed to have cured the problem.

That surprises me. It's been my experience that when the solenoid clicks, it's working, and the problem usually lies in one of the cables, or more often than not, one of the connections. Hmmmm
