side gapping plugs...reduce gap?

Been experimenting with side-gapping and have nearly mastered it (not too tough), but have a question. Most of the sources I've seen suggest reducing the gap by .10" PKRWUD, and anyone else that's doing this, what initial gap are you running...I need a point of reference to start tuning these bad boys.

THanks,
Gary

I gap them at what ever it says on the underhood decal (I can't remember off the top of my head), and it works great. Funny you should mention it today, though. Last night I heard from a friend of mine in Texas that followed my instructions for sidegapping a set of plugs for his Mustang, and at the track, he ran 4 times with new plugs, and 4 times with sidegapped plugs, and he picked up two 10ths and 1 mph with the sidegapped plugs. And that was at 3000'.

I agree, keep them at the factory gap unless your running forced induction or nitrous. Autolite makes racing plugs that come already sidegapped and i have seen those plugs take off a tenth or two in the 1/8th.
