98ford electronic 4+4
I have a 98 ford f 150 with the electronic 4wheel drive ,it works great when engaging into 4hi and 4lo,but when i go to take it out of 4lo it does nothing even when i have it in neutral and my foot on the brake,i have to shut off the engine and re start it then it will go back into 2hi, anybody have any thoughts on why it does this?

Will it go into 4hi from 4low?

no it wont ,only if i shut off the motor and restart it then it will i can put it in 2hi

Do a search on GEM, think that could be the problem.
