4x4 not working '04 f150

i have come into a recent problem. i really havent used my 4wheel drive since winter and the other day i was headed home from camp and threw it into 4wheel and nothing. tried again and nothing again. so i took it home checked all vacuum lines and fuses. everything is fine. i then jacked it up and had my g/f sit in the truck and put it in and out of 4wheel. the transercase engauges, turns the drive shaft to the front axles but will not turn the front wheels. does anyone know where i can start with this problem or what may have caused it? any help would be appreciated b4 i decide if i have to take it to a shop and drop a ****load of cash... lol

redeyderfx4, It seem's you have a problem with the IWE's or the vacume to them. There is a soloniod on the right side firewall next to the battery if it does not have a hat or cover over it you may have water in the system. You will need to get a new soloniod and blow out all the lines, you need to remove the battery and tray and disconnect the vac resiover before you blow out the lines if you dont you blow up the vac resiover. also disconnect the lines to the IWE's that's the lines at the wheel ends, apply vac to the wheel ends if they do not hold vac there bad and you will need to replace the wheel ends also.

Cool

2X with Coondog04's assessment. Good description!

One other thing to look at is for breaks in any vac lines.

Good luck
