2006 4X4 selecter switch will not engage

This weekend, my 2006 4X4 selecter switch would not engage 4Hi or 4LO.
In the past the switch had made a click sound and the instrament panel 4HI would light.
This weekend nothing.
As far as I can tell , all of the fuses are not blown and disconnecting the battery did not help reset anything.
Has anyone else had this problem and are any solutions known?
My guess is that the switch is bad and needs replaceing.
Only a trip to the dealer may be the cure.
Thanks for all replys.

Thanks Paralyzer.
Any estimate of the repair since I am out of warranty?
Also, since a TSB is known about problems with the IWE, would that repair be at no charge?

Is it a simple task to remove old IWE and replace with new IWE and then drive off?
Or does it have to be hooked up to a machine at the dealer for adjustments?
Thanks!!

Took the truck to the dealer for fixing the problem.
The problem goes beyond a simple fix.
The seal between the AT case and the 4WD Transfer case failed and allowed AT fluid to leak into the 4WD Transfer case. This caused too much fluid in the Transfer case and the internal Transfer case motor failed as a result.
The same fluid is used in both the AT and Transfer case. I'll have more details later.
