Question upgrade stereo sys.

Does anybody know what years are compatible to switch radio's. I have a '99 XLT with factory AM/FM,cassette,stereo and would like to switch to factory CD radio. Can I use(what years) to install? Thanks, Jeff

I think '99-'01 should be the same. It was either mid '98 or mid '99 when they switched the wiring harness. It just required an extra adaptor for mine. The hole in the dash is pretty much the same, just the outer trim ring varies. It will fit and look fine though. Good luck!

upgrade stereo sys.

Flat is right. The factory system out of my truck is going into a 97 F150 XL (AM/FM only). All he is going to have to do is modify or use an adapter harness to make it work, according to the local Ford tech anyway .

Flatlander,

Where do you get the adapter? I want to put a cd player from a 97 in to a 99.

Thanks.

Question

I'm not sure of that adapter? I bet they make one though. I got mine at a local stereo shop. They actually had one in stock, but they also had catalogs with all kinds of adapters. You'll need two - one to plug into the truck, which you'll wire up to a second adapter that plugs into the radio.
(cost me less than $30 for both)
