cool looking gizmo but whats the point of a hook when you have a decent dlink? i would rather have the dlink so the rope cant slide off the hook.

I hear ya, but why not ? I am sure, once I get it, I can find use for the hook.

Maybe just pulling a down tree into camp for some wood, pulling lighter stuff around, just throw the loop over the hook. I will have to play with it and find out.

Plus, the hook didn't sell me on it, the claims of being 3x stronger then any product out on market for similiar use (although I am sure exaggerated) got me interested. Plus for $80... its worth a go

Yea I'm with jeepin, sorta pointless to have both a hook and a link. Scratching my brain but I can't see a need for both except maybe be a great "get off my ***" deterent.

Guys, it was this part that caught my eye :

"CNC Machined from a solid bar of alloy steel that is 3X stronger than any other product on the market and black zinc coated for years of service."

Four Wheeler mag did a little write up about it (not a review) so I thought I'd check it out. I need a new recovery point in the rear anyways, and for $80, figured I would give it a try. Plus, it just looks mean.

As soon as I find a use for the hook, I'll re-post !

The hook is for when that little Honda Civic rear ends you, can't start again, and you tow them to the mechanic!

I just bought one from JC Whitney for 28 bucks. No hook but it could easily be added. I've got a tow hook like it layin around here somewhere that i bought for 3 bucks at TSC.

I personally think it is stupid. There is no point for a shackle and a hook, other than if your shackle goes MIA. You can get the warn shackle receiver for about $40 and it will be plenty and then some for what you wheel

i think it would look really mean looking on the back of the truck, but unless you have a use for both, maybe it's a waste of $80.... Just my oponion. But since were talking about recovery, I need to get a new tow strap... Should i go with chain or strap? And what brand? I want a very strong one that won't ever break.

Thanks,
James

I've seen them before but glad you posted that link because I searched awhile back and had no luck.

I would love to have that hook, especially when you have several trucks getting stuck and one rope it's kinda a PITA to remove the shackel and put to rope in then put it back on. When you could just loop it on that hook and go at it.

Wow, $70 just for that? No thanks. And I can see that tow hook (with just a10,000 lbs working load) being ripped off and sent through someones windshield.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've never (and no one I know) has broke or even cracked a reciever...

Ditto... Yeah, the bar is stronger than any other one on the market... so what? The pin holding it into the receiver isn't any stronger that I'm using, and the shackle is the exact same one the Warn unit comes with... So where's the big advantage?

OK, so the open hook is rated for a full 10,000 lbs. Big deal. At that point, the receiver is likely being ripped right off the frame anyways! Very few hardcore wheelers will use an open hook to start with. Thanks, but no thanks.
