Question Spal Intercooler fans?

Can three of these fans fit?

I went to the track yesterday and made a bunch of runs, most back to back. I had heat soak like crazy. I felt the temperature on the outside of the intercooler fluid and it was almost too hot too touch. I want as much cheap cooling as I can get.

Yea I saw the excellent thread. But nowhere (that I saw) does it mention if three of these fans can fit. I don't know, maybe it's overkill. I just know that my intercooler fluid gets real hot, it's hard to imagine it using that to cool the compressed air.

Just do the math.......a 6.5" fan is 7" across........is the JDM exchanger more than 21" wide??

OK, I did the math.

It's stock intercooler is 22 5/8" long. The fans are 7.03 wide.

So three fit, but why is every everybody only using two fans if three fit?

At first I was thinking about the point of diminshing returns, then I realized that the stock intercooler coor is not as "effective" at removing heat as the factory unit.

I can't believe that I'm going to actually be the first to try something new for the L!

Gator, as always, your setup rocks!

I guess you can put 3 fans on the JDM heat exchanger. But I guess 2 will work fine considering it does pull some descent CFM

On my larger heat exchanger I thought if I used 3 fans, the flow of air would be disturbed if I didn't have the fans on. So I used 2 to allow air to pass thru when the fans are not running. As I only use them at the track or if Iam stuck in traffic in the summer.

Thanks for the props air1kdf, but soap is the one that led me down the path the spal fans
So props to soap for showing us the way
