Truckguy24's guinea pig test. 2015 Ford Taurus Morimoto 9012 LED bulbs

Hey everyone

Gonna post up the results when these come in. I daily a '15 Taurus so I wanted to upgrade the lights. They have HIR2 halogen projectors. I saw TRS sells these so for $102 shipped figured why not. I'll post a review when they come in.

TRS Morimoto 9012

They also have other bulbs available here

So they came in Friday. Excellent packaging. The problem: too tight to even get them into the turn socket. No way I'm damaging my headlight for that so back they will go. I'm just going to do a full OEM grade retrofit. It will cost considerably more, but output will be incredible. I found an interesting comparison on YouTube comparing Hid, led, and halogen and I'm glad this happened. LED bulbs just don't compare. They don't have the throw.

My research so far is pointing to my halogen projectors being hella e55 based so the Evox-r would pretty much be drop in and have incredible output far far passing any OEM Ford for a hid setup. The output shots by some of the SHO guys are insane. And also would shoot for OEM bulbs and ballasts. Will update as I get farther in the process.

Ya evox-r will be direct bolt in for a E55 projector. Then get yourself some Matsush*ta or Denso ballasts and some Osram night breakers.

So TRS had me send them projector pics and they said it's the E46 projector and sent me a link for them which are on clearance. Ds2 bulbs as well. They said direct bolt in. Do I have other options for drop in or are e46 a good choice? There are only a few reviews on TRS and the replicas are mixed reviews but I have seen them spoken on lighting forums in good light. Thoughts?

I'd suggest headlight junkies page on Facebook, or hidplanet.com

D2S is the best bulb to run

As for projectors, you might look into conversion bracket and still be a mostly bolt in swap.

Thanks for the info Pat. Appreciate it. I see hidplanet coming up a lot in my searching so I'm on the right track. Will keep this updated.

You can check out our site. Our LED bulbs fit in the housings properly (of course on some newer trucks you need to do some wiring as you cannot install the ballast in the headlight cavity). Fogs fit just fine.

If you want/need to replace your HID we have D1/D2/D3/D4 bulbs available in LED as well (you just DON'T use the HID ballast is all, you wire the PROVIDED driver into your wiring harness from the truck, bypassing the HID built in ballast)
