Question Location of Blend Door Actuator 02 F150?

Anyone have a clue where the blend door actuator is on an '02 F150?

I am thinking its behind the HVAC controls on the dash?

Thanks, Pat

The actuator itself is mounted on the bottom of the evaporator housing. It can be seen by removing the black trim on the transmission hump - it has one white connector going to it.

Although the motor itself rarely fails; if you've having problems, it's a good chance the door itself is broken.

I may have the same problem on my 98 F150 - is the blend door in the same location on my truck - and will I have to remove the dash to fix the door?

Thanks
Mark

Yeap, they're all in the same location, and yes, the dash has to come out for a fix. There's a thread on this same page where I linked some pictures and how-to's.

can you replace the actuator with out pulling the dash? i have tried to remove it and have the heater duct (under it)loose, but it's still connected by a round part on left side.

thanks

You can, but it's pretty hard and requires a good bit of prying and cussing. The actuator has a male end on it that is connected to the female end of the door, so the actuator must be pushed down from the door, or the door must be lifted up off the actuator. Either way is difficult, because the door is kept from moving upwards any significant amount by the top half of the evaporator case.
