A few questions when installing a Line Out Converter on the factory harness

Alright everyone, I've got a 2014 F150 XLT with the mid level audio and the 4.2" LCD screen, Sync, etc. I am wanting to put in a Line Out Converter so I can hook up my amp and subs, but I've never done this before. I've wired many vehicles for myself and family in the past, so I'm decent with stereo systems, but I've never used a LOC. I love the factory center stack. I was looking at the Metra and PAC 2-channel LOC's, but I'm not sure which one is better, or how I would exactly go about wiring up the RCA output jacks from the factory harness that would plug into the converter. any help is appreciated.

Some good info in here:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sp...-upgrades.html

For you - if it's just a 2-channel system, you essentially connect the inputs on the LOC to speaker-level outputs from the truck audio harness. RCA outs on the LOC go to yer amps.

I suppose you'll need to find details of yer stock system wiring somewhere... Google?

Don't know if mid-level systems also involve Canbus... be mindful of that.

Just so you know:

"4. The problem with not using a good LOC with bass loss compensation or speaker level inputs is that you are still going to have the signal drop off when you turn up the volume. The factory system reduces the bass frequencies at higher volume levels in an attempt to preserve the speakers. If you were to get a good quality LOC (AudioControl Lc2i for example) you can still use the same signal at the sub amp harness, but won't run the risk of any volume loss through that signal since the LOC will compensate for it. "

So - perhaps rethink yer choice of LOC.

FWIW: Try searching on that site - seems more folks have been tinkerin' audio-wise over there on the new trucks.

Examples:

.... you get the idea...lots more where that came from ...

Good luck
