Post 4.9 Exhaust

I have a '96 4.9 that on which I want to upgrade the exhaust. I'm looking at the Gibson Swept Side, but I'm a bothered by the 3" diameter. With a V-8 this would be perfect, but with the I-6 I'm concerned that it may hurt the low RPM torque. Clifford recommends 2.5" in/ 2.25" out for a "Stage II" engine which is what I'm going to end up having. Gibson claims they maximize power in the low range with their system. Somebody is wrong, and I'd like to know who.

Has anyone out there put a Swept Side on a 4.9? How did it affect performance? Do you have before and after timeslips? Any change in fuel economy?
