Cleaned the MAF Sensor
I took off the MAF sensor and cleaned it off, and to my surprise my engine light is no longer on, and the engine is no longer knocking. This board rocks, such an easy thing to do and didn't have to spend a penny. Thanks to all
Nice! If you havent already, clean the throttle body, change your fuel filter, buy some Redline Fuel Injector Cleaner, and do the SeaFoam clean-up about 100 miles before your next oil change. You'll be happy you did!
I was thinking about cleaning my MAS. Can somebody give me some ideas on how to proceed. Thanks in advance guys! I've had the K&N in the box for a little over 35K and never have cleaned the sensor, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to clean it up a bit.

It's in the air intake tract. If you unclamp your filter housing, you'll find it just left (or just toward the engine's intake) of the filter. Be careful not to damage the fragile wires or use cleaners that aren't safe for coating and sensors. Pro-flow recommends cleaning with a Q-tip and Windex.
I do not use q-tips whatsoever to avoid damaging the maf. The throttle body or carb cleaner should be able to easily clean the maf. A couple of sprays should do the trick. Besides, the sensor shouldnt be very dirty.
cleaning maf
Ok fella's.
I have been thinking about cleaning my MAF with windex and a Q-tip now, but my hangup is if i should. Currently i have 93,000 miles on my truck and ive had it since 63k. I have no knowledge on what MAF's history and ive been thinking perhaps i should clean it. My hangup is.. if its not broke.. dont fix it.
Currently my truck gets apx 300 a tank "30 gal tank" and it does ping a little bit, but rungs incredibly strong for high miles.
Another fear is if i somehow clean it and suddenly the check engine light comes on i just blew up a 300 dollar sensor.
If i can expect some gains from cleaning it of any kind im willing to take that risk.
What do you guys think ?

I wouldn't use carb cleaner on anything in these trucks. It is for carbs and only carbs! All of our intake parts have a plastic coating (that you cant see) and it will take it off! The service manual calls for only using mild soap and water! But intake cleaner is very mild and should work fine.
Your slight pining is probably due to your egr system being clogged (not just the egr valve)

You can't see it with the factory air intake tract. It's bolted inside the left half of the air filter housing. It's unsheathed and visible when using/converting to a FIPK (airbox elimination kit). You can learn all about them here www.pro-flow.com
