Don't think Ford used a BAP on the '03 5.4.

It isn't on the earlier 5.4s up to '02.

What leads you to this question?

Steve

slight ping when the outside temp drops below 40 or when the temp goes up from 75 to 100 .. after 100 it stops .... this doesn't happen all the time

BAP = barometric air pressure. Not used since the last 5L engine.
Your discribing an operation where the low temps adds fuel and the hi temp pull ignition timing, that stops the ping.
If truly a sleight ping, it is gas related IMO.
These engines live right on the edge all the time.
A difference in tolerences of tuning, parts and fuel often add up to an over the edge operation if one element is to far out side..
The engine senses the inlet temp from the IAT in the air tube with the air meter.
Could even be the air meter dirty etc.
Good luck.
