Need help on error codes
Need help on error codes
Recieved a CEL. While using a friends AutoXray EZLink 4000 I have pulled this data out of the computer of my 97' F-150, 4.6L.
P401 - Know what that is.....
P455 - Not real sure what that means but must have a EVAP Leak.
Engine at Idle, Engine Temp 192’
TestID ComponentID Status/Data
$02 $11 .Fail High FFEB not <=7FAE
Upstream Static Shift lean, Shift on H02S11
$02 $21 .Fail High FFE9 not <=7FAE
Upstream Static Shift, Rich Shift on H02S21
NOT SURE WHAT THOSE TWO ABOVE MEAN....
$21 $00 .Fail Low 8000 not >= F19A
Initial Tank Vacuum Reading
$22 $00 .Fail High 8000 not <=0500
Leak Check Vacuum Bleedup
HAVE TO CHECK THE VACUMM LINES BUT NOT SURE
$23 $00 .Fail High 8000 not <=1000
Vapor Generation Maximum Pressure Rise
$24 $00 .Fail High 8000 not <=0500
Vapor Generation Adjustment
NOT SURE WHAT THOSE TWO ABOVE MEAN....
$41 $11 .Fail Low 0001 not >=FC00
Delta Pressure for Upstream DPFE Host Test
$4A $30 .Fail Low 0036 not >=0300
Delta Pressure for EGR Low Flow Test
I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS ONE. I HAD THE DPFE REPLACED AND CLEANED BY THE DEALER 10000 MILES AGO. GUESS THEY DID NOT DO A GOOD ENOUGH JOB. I WLL....
$4B $30 .Fail High 7324 not <=6666
Cylinder Events Tested
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN.....
O2 Sensor Readings at Idle
I assumed these to be the input to the Catalytic Converter
Bank 1, Sensor 1: .035 to .810
Bank 2, Sensor 1: .030 to .829
I assumed these to be output from the Catalytic Converter
Bank 1, Sensor 2: .620 to .645
Bank 2, Sensor 2: .415 to .435 Possible bad/Marginal
I am assuming that the Bank2, Sensor 2 is marginal, or is the CAT going bad. Do you all agree?

P0455 is "gross evap leak detected."
$02 $11 .Fail High FFEB not <=7FAE
Upstream Static Shift lean, Shift on H02S11
$02 $21 .Fail High FFE9 not <=7FAE
Upstream Static Shift, Rich Shift on H02S21
Everything is in Greek here to me. I have no idea what "7FAE" represents in terms of HEGOs.

Initial Tank Vacuum Reading
$22 $00 .Fail High 8000 not <=0500

Vapor Generation Maximum Pressure Rise
$24 $00 .Fail High 8000 not <=0500
Vapor Generation Adjustment
Those looks like vapor management valve values. I'm still unclear as to how that EZLink thing uses </=1000 or 500 to determine vapor management parameters.
$4B $30 .Fail High 7324 not <=6666
Cylinder Events Tested
I have no idea about this, I don't know what their "6666" value is supposed to be equal to.
O2 Sensor Readings at Idle
I assumed these to be the input to the Catalytic Converter
Bank 1, Sensor 1: .035 to .810
Bank 2, Sensor 1: .030 to .829
By the looks of it, the upstream HEGOs are switching properly.

You may have a breaking up 2-2 converter. That EZLink thing is speaking jibberish to me, I don't know what any of those values mean. Were P0401 and 0455 the only DTCs retrieved?
$02 $11 .Fail High FFEB not <=7FAE

Error codes cont.
Yes,
The 401 and 455 were the only ones to come up.
I cleared the codes and the 401 came badk in about 3 hours.
What I like about the Autoxray is I can plug it in and monitor some of the data real time. I will be doing this tomarrow on the way to work....
