LOST KEYS TO A 1999 f150
Here is the problem, the truck is 45 miles from the nearest dealership, and several miles off the main road. Can anyone help on how to get this truck running Thats was my only set of keys to the truck
As a side note, The dealership won't come off road to tow a vehicle and tow truck services i called have a surcharge of 150 dollars to go off the road on top of there estimated 90 dollar towing fee. OUCH!

Are you saying you don't have any keys for the truck?
Well, you got a '99 and it's got a PATS key. You can't start the truck without the key. Your only option, I think, is to have the truck towed to a dealer. If the truck is still covered by the 3/36k warranty, call Roadside Assistance at 1-800-241-3673. Ford will at least cover part of your towing cost.
If the keys are locked in the truck, you can call a locksmith or towing company to pick or pop the lock.

Bent6,
Yes, Ford can also make a key from the VIN(96 & up) but, jscott32 has a 99 f150. In 99 Ford started PATS keys. The key has a chip in the key and that is the only key that will start the truck--Yes he can make up to 6 keys for the truck but, they all have to be programed for the truck to start it.
If the keys are just locked in the truck he could go to the dealer and make a normal key and unlock the door but, the normal key will not start the truck.
If the keys are lost for good he has 3 options--
1-If he is under warrenty, call Ford Roadside ***-
2-Talk the dealer into coming out to the truck-
3-Purchase a good tow rope

Unless you have one of the ORIGINAL keys, the dealership will have to re-program you entire PATS system. I lost one of my 2 keys last year. The system requires 2 original keys to program a new one. So I had to pay almost $100 for 1 new key!!!!!!
You'll have to get it towed to the dealership. Without having the keys programmed, the truck will crank, but not turn over, I tried. Now I have 4 keys to the truck, JUST in case.
Look in the owners manual for the steps needed to program a new key.
