Post slow speed OD slippage.slip yoke TSB a fix?

I have noticed that if I forget to turn off the OD when I exit the freeway, the next time It
shifts from 2 to 3 the trans sort of slips and then when it engages, there is a soft
clank. This also happens when I'm on a surface road and do a partial stop in second, then accelerate. It never happens
when the OD is off. Only when It is running in OD on a surface road(30 to 45mph) Change the fluid as a start? Then what next? I don't tow with it,BTW
Thanks for any help and suggestions,,,98

Cool

I had the same problem when accelerating from a stop as did others on the board.

Anyway, the fix was to lubricate the slip yoke. You have to take the driveline off to get at it. My dealer did it and they said it was a pretty simple procedure. Just for you info the new issue of Truck Trend mentions this in the letter section near the end of the magazine. TSB# 96-23-20 may relate to this problem.

There are also some threads on page 2 of this forum that may help you . . . look for the message "Rand the slipping feeling" posted by me.

Good Luck !

Talking

Thanks,Cougar guy
I hope this helps me,it's not that bad,but
it does bother me that it happens only when the OD is on and only at the 2 to 3
shift point. Or if you brake in third down to
about 30mph,and then reaccelerate. The
engine rpms don't go up,but the power just isn't all there until it does the clank/thud thing. then it goes great.......98
