i changed my plugs and broke all 8.
Well guys I finally decided to jump in and change my plugs i had a coil and plug going bad so i said might as well change them all my truck is a 04 with 98k. I went online to advance auto parts I used code a123 and i got my sp515s and one coil for for 75 bucks. The ford dealership wanted 27 dollars a plug and 85 for the coil. So on to the plug change I followed the detailed instructions and broke all 8 plugs kinda bummed at that point lol. The mail man pulled up and he had my extractor so on to extracting I went. I also removed a few extra things to help me reach them better I removed my air force 1 intake, throttle body, unplugged the fuel injector harnesses and moved the harness for the coils and injectors out of the way. I wanted it less cluttered up so i could move the extraction tool around in there better. All in all it was pretty easy just very stressful pulling the bell out of the head. Just the thought of the extractor not biting on the bell had me worried more than anything. I didn't want to call a wrecker to come pick it up and drop it off at a ford dealer to have the head removed. I got it all back together and runs like a champ total was about 6 hours from start to finish. That's with waiting times for the Carb cleaner, breaks, and lunch.
Well that sux.....
Did you prepare for the plug change?
Like run a couple of tanks of gas with techron?
Use an impact?

Yes I was prepared as a marine going into battle. The last 4 tanks I ran techron no I didn't use a impact but after I broke a couple I was debating on trying it but decided I would still try my best to get at least one out with out breaking. It was a great learning experience none the less.
I didn't have to watch it 6 times to know how to use it. I watched it to prepare my self and feel more comfortable lol the tool is VERY simple to use.
all the dealers around me are wanting 700-750 for parts and labor then another 75-100 per broken plug I refused to shell out that kind of money. The money I saved will go to my ar15 I'm building lol.
The shop I work for on the week ends is $300 weather they break or not, with an oil change included....
I got quoted $320 for my truck from my local shop. He said he wouldn't charge me extra for any broken plugs. He said that it'd be his fault if he broke any. Only extra charge would be if he had to remove the heads to get it.
I did mine myself and it took me two days because of a lot of interuptions. Personally I would do it again. I thinik you're supposed to do it on a luke warm engine with some PB blaster. Make sure you torque down the spark plugs with a torque wrench so they dont back out!!!
For what its worth, my dealer quoted me $1100 something for them to pull mine with a fuel treatment of some kind.
