This morning I went to a customers house to install a remote starter. It was snowing so we were in his garage. He noticed my license plate and we got into the discussion about our personal handguns. He ran inside and came out his newest automatic. He removed the clip and proceded to show me how it how the trigger pull was as he pointed it towards his wall. BANG!!! He failed to clear the chamber and he shot the concrete wall.

After striking the wall I heard and felt the bullet wiz past my ear and hit the wall behind us. Just as I noticed him pulling the trigger something in me made me take a step back. I feel that the lord pulled me backwards to clear the path for that bullet. It would have certainly struck me in the face. The thoughts after awhile ran through my head over and over about my wife, my 3yr old son, my newborn that will be here Dec 5th. How that phone call would have devistated everyone and all the unfinnished things in my life. Please be careful with your firearms and thank God for letting you live another day.

He was certainly looking out for you wasn't He? I took my pistol out of the case once and ejected the full clip. There was no one else at home and I almost pulled the trigger because I don't normally ever leave one chambered but something said "you better check". Oh Oh! I would have had a hole in the wall to explain to my wife and a red face to go along with it. I'm normally very careful about gun safety. I learned you can never be too careful.

 

he was definitely looking out for you. if i were you, i wouldnt be installing anything else for that customer as long as he is around. accidently discharge is no joke.

That is why Gun Safety classes teach you to always treat any weapon as if it is loaded.
I know a man that owned a clothing store. He was in his office looking at his new acquisition, and the empty gun discharged. It was a good thing the store was in an older concrete building, or that bullet could have endangered a customer.

 

I"m glad you're alright, but this is why people shouldn't play with guns

I forgot to mention that this guy does gun safety classes and conceal carry classes. That was the whole thing that got us started on our conversation because my license plate says IPACA9 (I PACk A 9mm for those that don't get it....lol)

The guy was truly shook up over the event. He was almost in tears and this was a guy that you could tell was a pretty strong individual and this really impacted on him. I'm sure it had him questioning himself and his "gun saftey" classes he teaches. I guess this one just goes into the "Sh*t happens file" lol

This really impacted me a little while later because it flashed me back to a event almost 15 years ago. Back in my earlier years maybe about 20 years old or so (35 now). I had a buddy that was going to clean his shotgun. I jacked all the shells out of it onto the coffee table and went back to find his cleaning kit. It took him awhile to find it and in doing so his buddy thought he would take that time to play with the gun. He put all the shells into the gun and was I guess playing with it to pump the shells out of it. As my buddy was coming back into the living room his friend thought he had all the shells out of the gun and tried to quickly lean it back up against the couch as if he wasn't playing with it. I guess the shotgun had a touchy trigger but as my friend was leaning over the gun to pick it up somehow it went off striking my friend in the left breast area and upside the left side of his face.

I was outside when this happened having some beers with some buddies. I came inside to first see blood all over the white ceiling and the few friends in the living room just sitting there panicking. Thank God I'm a man that keeps a calm head during emergency situations. All I could think about was trying to stop the bleeding. I took my shirt off and literally put it inside my buddies chest. He blew a chunk out of his left breast about an inch or so from his heart. It took a chunk out of his left jaw and peppered his face with BBs. My quick thinking saved his life.

I had almost forgotten about that situation and then after my event yesterday it shot that memory back into my mind. GUN SAFTEY!!!!

 

God had nothing to do with that. That is just your better judgment and common sense.

You unconsciously realized he didn't check the chamber so you stood back. If he did you probably wouldn't have felt so nervous.

ive had a friend killed cuz some jack@$$ was playin with .45 and didnt know it was loaded and got shot in the head, i shoot guns ALL the time but im responsible enough to know not to play around and unload it after im done shootin

 

I was in the Army when Cash was a pay option.
Each company would send a LT to the vault building with a 45 strapped to him to pick up their loot.

I would get duty to stand guard at the door and make sure everyone entering the building cleared their weapon into a barrel of sand.

4 fricking AM and it never failed.......BAM !!!.

Some paydays it was BAM !!! followed by BAM !!!
How in the hell do you NOT clear the chamber when the Butter Bar in front of you didn't clear his?

Sometimes I wanted to shoot them just on principle.
However my magazine was in my pocket and besides they ony issued me three rounds and I wasn't a very good shot.
