for those of you with just an edge...

About to get a programmer and I wanted to know if i was really worth it to get a gryphon with custom tunes for the extra money. But for those of you who are running just the canned tunes from the edge which is what I am planning to do...do you recommend it and do you feel a big difference because if I am about to spend $350, it better be good. Thanks.

i am just running canned tune (lvl3) mods are is sig
i got better shifting and will downshift more when i want it too, better passing, better MPG went up by 3-4 mpg on city driving and the best part my truck is more fun to drive
0-60 times went from over ten seconds to lows sevens

I would defiantly say the edge is worth it go for it and down the you can have it converted to the Gryphon

The Edge is worth it if that is all you can afford, but the Gryphon with custon tunes is definitely worth the difference. I have had them both.

I havent had the $$ to convert mine to a Gryphon, but the Edge with canned tunes is definately worth it. A short time ago, I had my edge out becuase the truck was in for service. I hated driving it without the edge. I re-installed, and I love my truck again. For the most part, I only use level 1. Just the trans makes the biggest differnece. Level 2 is nice, but loses power above 3k or so and level 3 is awesome if you run premium.

Trust me, you will not be dissapointed.

Oh yeah, the guages are awesome as well. I use CHT, Trans Temp, Inst MPG, and Comm Gear.

I see you have an 04. If you have an aftermarket CAI I would get the Gryphon to make sure you prevent the notorious lean condition

I started with an Evo and recently decided to upgrade it to a Gryphon and get a custom tune. The Evo was good, but I'm expecting the Gryphon to be better.

Just Wondering

I have the Edge now but I would like to get the Gryphon. Every one says it's a big differance. How much of an improvement are we talking about? Does any one have any numbers to show the change the gryphon makes? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

No numbers - and I've said this before. I doubt you'll see as much difference between a canned Edge tune and a custom Gryphon tune as you saw between the stock tune and a canned Edge tune - but there IS a difference!

I felt my truck performed even better with the PHP custom tune than it did with the canned Edge tune and I think I got a 0.5 mpg economy increase. To me, it was worth it. But understand - YMMV!

Hey guys, I have a question. I have a turbo regal also that i play with, will a custom tune help a stock set up (for the money) over a canned tune, with my regal, if you don't let it breath, the custom tune really don't shine like it should for the money. I had a stock 06 Lariat now i have a 2010. I would also like to know what you all think about a tuner for a stock set up. I guess the best bang for the buck. Thanks, and I don't mean to i jack this thread.

I have a Edge Evo in my 2007 F-150, when set to Level 3 performance and running on high octane fuel, the truck seems to be sluggish, it almost feels as if its "missing", like a issue with the sparkplugs or something. When im accelerating slowly it cant hold a steady RPM...anyone have any input???

stock level l3 is great, but the shifts are too firm for my liking, and gas is to expensive for 93... so i got a 87 custom performance tune and it is better then level 3.... nice shifts, and brute power... worth the 30 bucks to get custom tunes.. ( already bought gryphon, figured down the road i'd want custom tunes( i waited to long))

however, a edge is worth every penny also...
