Have to find a fix for faded plastic

So ive tried almost every different chemical or dressing to remedy the fading of all the flares and and other black plastic on my truck. Im thinking of either painting them flat black or maybe trying to use a do it yourself rhino liner kit to coat all of the plastic on my truck. Anybody seen this done? if so are there any pics available or any problems one would foresee with the liner stucking to the OEM flares, tops of rear bumber and the area near the windsheild wipers?

Thanks in advance for any input

It should be fine so long as you scuff them up a bit before putting on whatever you are thinking about putting on. Personally, I would take them off and spray some adhesion promoter on them and then hit them up with some kryon fusion. Its your call though.

You could use this as your opportunity to paint things to match. The rear bumper cover might look good PTM as well as the flares.

Most members have painted them. I would, but hardly notice it as it is, and painting really isn't my strongest area.

I painted my wiper cowls with semi-gloss black Fusion, by Krylon. Worked great and still looks good after about a year. That would be what I would do. One of these days, I may do my handles and the rails.

I've sprayed all of my exterior trim with krylon black, looks much better. The bed rails are the hardest part.

I need to post my write up in how-to someday..

Not to take away from the O.P.s question but do you have to clear coat the fusion?

Definately DO NOT clear coat them. I made that mistake. It's been about 18 months now and the clear is flaking and peeling. The black underneath looks great but the flaking clear looks HORRIBLE! Now I have to remove the clear and redo it all.

As for prep. I washed them with Simple Green and water. Then with an ammonia based window cleaner. Then painted them.

Does anyone have any ideas how to bring the rubber pieces around the windows back to life? mine are very dull.. i put a little bit of tire shine on them, brought them right back to life, but then it rained and i ended up having tire shine on the side of my truck for the next 10 washings.. haha i learned my lesson..

I use a product called back to black. its by mothers (I think)

Use it on my Tonneau, window pillars, mirrors, rear bumper cover, lower valance, window seals etc...

Best product that I've found for getting rid of the "faded" look and bringing back that deep shiny black look.

The best part... is that you dont have to "paint" anything.
