So I was browsing through 4wheelparts.com the other day looking at diesel power packages for fun and stumbled upon the following Power Pack for the 5.4 gas triton in our trucks. Has anyone used this? Or does anyone know someone who does? I'd really like to know more about this. +100 whp and +239 w/tq???

Let me know if you guys have heard good things! I searched for this but couldn't find anything for Banks Engineering in our gas powered forum.

Interesting! I use Firefox as a web browser with a plugin called "Web Of Trust" (WOT) that warns whenever you try to access a site with a "poor" reputation. The reason for the warning is because the site may try to load you up with spyware/adware or some other nonsense. WOT advised me that 4wheelparts.com fell into this category, so I'm taking a "pass".

However, Banks Engineering has a solid reputation. Why not go to the Banks website and see what they say?

Banks is a very reputable manufacturer when it comes to diesel performance parts. There is no doubt in my mind they make quality parts for gasoline vehicles but I assure you there is no way they picked up +100 whp and +239 w/tq. Those are numbers you could expect on a diesel but never on a gasoline engine.

Its not just a programmer, plus they want 1800 bucks for it

my buddy has the kit in his 05 KR but i would not say it adds that much...but it does add a ton of noticeable HP and TQ !!!! It literally puts your head to the headrest!!! once he lifted it, it slowed it down a tad. But it is still very sweet!!!! I would highly recommend it

 

I can bet that you could buy a Magnaflow exhaust system, cold air intake of your choice, and a custom tuned Xcal3 from VMP Tuning for way cheaper than Banks and get more power! The custom tuning vs Banks canned tunes would make the largest difference. The money you saved could go towards some E-Fans and that'd add another 10 rwhp.

Exactly ... No freaking way in the world could they add 100 rwhp with those mods. A supercharger adds ~130 rwhp ...

 

that kit is for a diesel not a gas motor.

 

The Bank's website says the PowerPack for the 04-08 trucks adds 45 hp and 47 lb ft of torque.

 

That sounds pretty realistic to me. As I said before, Banks has a reputation for selling quality products (which you pay for).

The price is still ridiculous.

 

I have a S&B cold air, and I bought a Banks Programmer for my 2005 F150, it really helped wake up the motor. I bought my programmer from the F150 store (now out of business ) for $150...screaming deal....

I want to get the banks exhaust next , but have tosave the Pennys.

check with Summit racing and see what they sell it for, and also try styling trucks too.

Do you know if the tune is made for an air intake or not? If not than you run the risk of running lean. Any time the MAF tube size is changed it needs to be tuned for that size. Most programmers like that only take in account for a stock air intake. Good luck.

 

i have the Banks exhaust...si/so 3 1/2 pipe with 5 in chrome tip. it looks and sound nice.

 

You could make those power gains for less money building a system yourself. I have the Banks exhaust and I luv it.
