32V Navigator motor?

Ok question looking to upgrade the 4.6 in my 150. Have a chance to pickup a 32v navigator motor complete and has 100,000 on it. Will it bolt in the 97? And what electrical issues will I be dealing with?

You'll have to get it tuned if you don't have the PCM from the Gator.

Ok it will bolt in good. I can handle having to tune it or tuning it myself. Same pcm harness as the 4.6? And Does the Navi have variable VVT? Thanks for the response. Thinking I can get it for 6-800. I asume I'll need a new torque converter and Headers and exhaust. Does anyone know of a way to tune the motor with a DIY program I have tuned my other vehicle and am comfident in my abilities.

harnesses are different, different ignition systems, navi has cop, where your 4.6 has coil packs and wires.

Ok do I understand correctly that I can just adapt my harness to run the cops? And I would assume that I can just lengthen then connections that don't fit.

What year is the navi motor? The early ones came with coil packs like your 4.6 and not COPS. I did the swap in my 02 Expy from 4.6 to a 04 Navi but they both had COPS, so the wiring was easy. Just had to lengthen a couple of things. If the Navi motor you can get uses coils like yours then it is easy, you would use your 4.6 harness(and lengthen a couple of sensor wires) and use your coils with a set of that year Navi plug wires.

As for bolting right up, yes they will except for the flex plate. Again if its an early Navi (99-03) the flex plate is for a 4r100 transmission. 04 Navi's came with the 4r75 which has the same flex plate as the 4r70.

Nope , there is no VVT. 99-04 DOHC Navi motors have the same sensors as the 2v 4.6/5.4 F150 motor with the exception of 04 does not have IMRC. I speak under correction but I think your truck has 2 coolant sensors where there navi motor has 1.

Exhaust Y-pipe needs to be widened . The Navi's manifolds sit in the same position as the 5.4 2v

For tuning, I use the SCT Pro-racer software, a little pricey but worth every penny!! The link in my sig is my swap with more info about this swap.

Were the earlier coil pack Navi engines 32v or 16v?

Ahh, my bad, the coil pack motors were 16v, the 32v motors are all COP. He would have to use his 4.6 harness and coils. A set of 93/94 Mark vii valve covers and plug wires would make it work.

98 5.4 16v SOHC
99-04 5.4 32v DOHC
