04 heritage tach install?????

04 heritage tach install?????

just bought a $100 sunpro racing tachometer for my truck but it doestnt say were to put the wire to read the rpms at any help

Search will yield results. There is a red wire somewhere in the steering column you have to tap into

It would have been cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing to just get an OEM cluster with a tac.

True but you also have to go to the dealer to get the odometer changed and avoid issues on a carfax when you go to sell the truck if that would ever happen.

who needs a tach anyway after you drive a stick without one for a while you can know when its time to shift or if your getting up there to high

true i can tell were to shift on the road but when in the mud spinning the tires i wanna no my exact rpms not just guessing

i would but i know its probably not of a 97-98 and id have to acetone the face to work with my leds.

You can put the electronic odometer into the tach mode when you want to see that. Don't worry about overrevving anyway - there's a RPM limiter.

Comes quite in handy doing your own diagnostics. That's who.

I don't know anyone who's had an easy time telling torque converter shudder from a COP misfire without one.

Hold the reset button in when turning on the key - when it says "test" release it - then start pushing the button till it says "tac0000" then start the engine.

glc is our resident 4.2L encyclopedia. Careful though, I think some of you guys are over-using him....he might start charging for his services!

Noobie here.......was looking for way to hook up tach....how I found this site. Did the odometer trick, slick ;-). Many thanx, looks like I found a home for info on my new truck. Found '03 STX just turned over 38K. Kel
