Not positive on this but I think the old one was 9 row and the updated one is 10 row.

Should have 11 rows of fins again if memory is correct.

What year truck did it come off of?
99 to 2000 are the ones they had problems with.

Looks the same as this 01 intercooler to me. And I count 10 rows.

the leaky ones had 9 rows and the upgraded ones had 10, it appears to be the upgrade but it needs cleaned for sure before it goes in, and that ladies and gentlemen is why you need to run an oil seperator

I cleaned the entire upper and lower intake, eaton and intercooler today and yes a oil seperator will be going on before startup. How do I find out for sure if this is ok? Just dumping a ton of cash into this project and need to make sure its ok...?

I think you could pressure test it.
But you have 2 of us now that agree that the bad one was 9 row and the upgrade has 10.

Ok so the motor is bolted in but I did notice that the L oil cooler does not allow enough space for a oil filer to go on. What is the fix for this ? filter relocation on remove the cooler? Thanks Dave

As I rememeber the L oil cooler has the filter behind the cross member, so why wouldn't it fit?

Also, I believe you can just swap your non L filter housing on and use it instead.

The L oil cooler landed right on the front driveshaft so I removed the oil cooler and will use it down the road when I relocate the filter. Almost done with the install and then need to make a decision on the tune. Troyer ect...?
