Thats how i really wanted to do it, but the ford factory sirius plug that goes into the unit is different than the pioneer plug. I wasn't sure if i could just cut, strip and reconnect a sat radio antannae wire. if its that easy, let me know. cuz i will definately go that route.

 

Deffinitly do not cut the end off. That will ruin the antenna.

 

Started the day by finally getting the bottom of the back seat tightened down. then i got fed up with the security module floppin around, so i took me a couple of self tapping screws and fastened to the side.

Got my jigsaw charged up and finished makin the cuts on the amp rack. I started to put the carpet on the masonite when the adhesive spray locked up!! so i took my 25 minute (one way) trip to walmart to get some more. on the back of the rack i took some air conditioner filter and glued it over where the vents would lay against the rack. figured it would help with some of the sound but still allow for air to flow. got the rack mounted to the back wall and called it a night.

I may not have time to get anything done tomorrow. got to help with timing @ the district track meet at school. fun fun.

ARKuhTEK, i know that you took out your center seat belt also. what did you do to separate the seat belt from the other belt latch that is needed for the rear drivers side seat belt? I really dont want to cut it, but i dont want it just floppin around either.

 

Ya, take off the surround around the plug. Take a pick tool to the end. and then itll plug in. The little red plug around the xm antenna wont be used but its all good. The silver end will still hold in very well.

 

I have found out that when you only have a couple of hours in the afternoon to work, im not near as effective as I was during spring break. I hope to have this thing finished and jamming on saturday.

I got my amp board mounted tuesday. I went to put in my C pillar covers and seatbelts back in, but I ran into a slight problem. With the seat lift kit in, the side seat brackets were in the way of the pillar covers. I had to take the seats back off to get the covers back on. But I must say the carpetet amp rack looks real good back there IMO.

Next I put in 2 amps just to make sure that they fit and that I can get 2 amps on each side of the motor. Looks like they are going to fit be the slightest of margins. I think that I am just going to leave the motor uncovered or I may just take some of the carpet that is left over and cover it. Not sure just yet. I hope to have the sub box in tomorrow and get everything hooked up saturday.

I got the amps mounted on one side just to see if it would fit (got 1/8 inch to spare!!) Im gonna keep the 300/4 on the left and move the sub amps to the right since the power wire ran up the drivers side, my RCAs to the highs will not have to pass any power wire. Thas why my amps are tuned to the right. all power wire will be above the amps.


I had to use a string to keep everything level. These were a PITA to mount by myself.

I also found out that I need to trim back my amp board where the top clips on the back of the seat go into the back wall. The wood, carpet, and damplifier made the wall 2 thick for the clip to go over all of it

 

i started to mention something to you about that a couple days ago when i was looking at your pics but it looked like you had it notched already so i thought you had already noticed that.

 

I am not sure what you are asking. Pics? When i removed my center tower..the seat belt came with it. The only thing left was the latch. So now I have three latches for three seat belts but only two belts left existing in the truck. Does not bother me in the slightest.

Why not do what I did....with the motor and build a thin picture frame like box and carpet it? I used 2"x12" strips of MDF and then screwed them to a sheet of masonite, then carpet. Then screwed entire assembly over window motor. It became home to my distr blocks (as you know).

Everything looks great BTW. And yes....having 1/8" clearance is about how I felt when trying to squeeze it all in....

 

My seatbelt latch for the rear drivers side seat and the center seatbelt are on the same metal mounting bracket. I guess yours wasn't since you didn't have this issue. Here is a pic showing what I have ran into.





They may be a little dark for you to see, but look how they both go into the same plastic surround and then loop around the bracket. I really need the side latch and was considering trying to find just the classic manual adjustable lap belt for the center seat if it ever became neccessary to use the center seat. Hope you see what im talking about.

 

I got the urge to fire up my system today. I dont have my sub box built yet, so i grabbed up a bandpass box with a RF HE2 10 in it. just wanted a lil bass (even if its bad). but as soon as i turn the key on and the deck fires up, im getting a BAD whine in the speakers. it isn't engine noise because even when i crank the truck it doesn't get louder with the RPMs. ANY SUGGESTIONS? is it a ground problem? the deck is grounded directly to the battery with 10 ga wire. Is that too far for a ground? how big a screw do i need to ground the 0/1 ga wire in the back to the floor? please help!! don't want to get this far and then just have a really bad sounding system.

is the wine in the subs? what type rca did u use. did u make your own ground bolt for amps? are your amps touching metal? do ur door speaks wine? i mentioned earlier an excellent way to ground amps. disconnect rca from hu, see if it still does it through door speaks from radio. recheck all wiring,

 

Worked like a charm!! thanks. now my dash looks alot better without the antannaes on there. now if i can get the whine out of my speakers

 

This is what I have figured out so far.

1) The whine is in the door speakers.
2) The whine is ONLY when I have the sub amp powered up also. Does not matter if I have the RCAs hooked up on the sub amp or not. No sub amp, there is no whine in the door speakers??????? got me confused.

I have a distro block for the ground and the power. I was going to change my grounding spot until i unhooked the 500.1 and noticed that it was only in that amp so i figured it wasn't the ground spot.

Any suggestions?

 

Are you using an RCA pass through from the mono to the 4 channel?
